Mikwenim:Remember, YOUR CHOICES

The Ojibwa youth learn through the always present aura of an elder, that the choices they make do matter. Life on the Lac Courte Oreilles reservation presents itself as a wall; that most do not pass. Often during times of trouble, looking to the 7th generation for their teachings is a must. Mikwenim establishes place and identity while exposing our personal discomfort about the issues that effect our community.

URBANO PROJECT: CINEMATECH 1.0 LIGHT SPACE AND SOUND.

A cumulative understanding of installation based art was acquired through the course which formed into a three part work that critiques the themes in response to our individual communities. The use of color theory is applied to “Light Clouds” which hang above the audience while sonically the space is always in motion as audible variants between “Noise” and “Sound” shift your spatial relationship with the space and the community members within. Lastly, the “Hologram” features the voices and faces of the artists expressing why they are the “The Other”.
